Booklet
and Catalog Design
Communication
is the #1 goal of any design. There are a number of things
that can be included in a design that will grab a reader's attention. Take
a look at these concepts. The tips given should be able to
help your design look sharper.
Alignment
Be
sure to eliminate any design that detracts attention from your piece. Most
people unknowingly prefer symmetry. They look for lines, shapes,
circles and patterns. Knowing this, make sure images, graphics
and text are designed correctly to direct the most attention possible. You
should literally make your design jump out and catch someone's attention.
Repetition
Establish
repetition in a design by reusing a base set of colors, typefaces,
rules and branding imagery. This will help the reader recognize
and remember a product, image, concept or whatever you are trying
to communicate.
What
type of paper to use?
Don't
forget to consider the performance characteristics needed when selecting
a paper. While cost and look are important, the use of the product
will determine the paper best suited to the project.
